Dr. Sungbong Kim, Ph.D.
Dr. Anna Lee, Ph.D.
Deputy Executive Director
Dr. Sungbong Kim is an educator, education activist, and educational psychologist. Dr. Kim joined Give Chances in February 2018 as an Executive Director after working for the Educators Without Borders USA, an NGO that supports educational and human resource development in developing countries since 2014. He is a graduate of Seoul National University with a bachelor's and a master’s degree in education and received his master's and doctor’s degree in educational psychology from Columbia University in 2014. He has a passion to reduce the learning gap between the children of poor and rich families and to develop and provide quality education programs where the children in need can find and pursue their talents, and eventually become life-long independent learners.
Dr. Anna Lee is a social worker, nonprofit specialist, land NJ certified counselor. Dr. Anna Lee joined Give Chances in September 2019 as a Deputy Executive Director. She received her Ph.D. in Child Counseling at Sookmyung Women’s University, South Korea. In the United States, she acquired a Master’s degree in Social Work at New York University and in nonprofit management at Columbia University.
Anna Lee joined Give Chances with the vision to pursue giving the children from low-income families the opportunity for education and prevent them from giving up education, discouraged and lost hope and dream with their living conditions. Moreover, she pursues to give opportunities to children with disabilities so that they are not socially isolated but gain independence to join the community.
Young has been dedicated early on in her career to providing educational opportunities through non-profit organizations. Upon her graduation from Teachers College, Columbia University with an M.A. degree in International Education Development, she joined Give Chances as a continuation of her commitment to bringing about change for those that fall between the gaps of formal education.
Ms. Young Eun Bae
Director of Educational Program
Olivia is the Program Coordinator for Give Chances Joyful Learning program. She had attended Hunter College, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health (Community Health Education) and graduated in 2017. She has worked closely with the Korean and Hispanic children in Give Chances Joyful Learning Program since 2017 Summer. Olivia believes that education is the key right for every child and is an important and necessary tool to create great changes in our children’s life.
Ms. Olivia Seung Paek
So Young has graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a B.A in Political Science (International Relations) and M.A. in Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit organization. She believes her mission is what Give Chances pursues, which is to provide quality education for all. She has a special affection for kids and hopes to spread that love through Give Chances.
