As the leading organization, Give Chances Inc. came up with the initial plan of the program and invited local organizations to join and provide opportunities of quality education to the children from low-income families. Each of the four organizations has been serving its community and the population in need, using its expertise and unique perspectives. Each organization will play a special role for the current project.

Family Touch, Inc

Family Touch Inc. is a non-for-profit organization that has been working for the immigrant communities in New Jersey and New York since its foundation in 2001. With the mission to build emotionally and socially healthy families through education and counseling, they have lowered economic and cultural barriers to access necessary professional assistance for the at-risk families. They served over 30,000 community members of New Jersey, especially Korean-American community, for the last 17 years. For the Joyful Learning After-school project, Family Touch is expected to collaborate in the dissemination of information about the project to the Korean-American community in New Jersey and recruit participating students and volunteer tutors.

St.Michaels Roman Catholic Church in Palisades Park

Hispanic immigrant families make up a large portion of the target population and we need to find a way to invite them to our program. For this purpose, St. Michael Roman Catholic Church of Palisades Park is the best partner because this church is the religious center of Catholic Hispanic immigrants in Palisades Park. The church has been serving those who are poor or homeless and have constructed close relationship with the Hispanic community and low income societies.

Neighbor Plus, Inc

Neighbor Plus Foundation is a non-for-profit organization that focuses on building a healthy community through loving, caring, educating and sharing. Since its foundation in 1999, Neighbor Plus has been offering various services to its community, including but not limited to, social services, hospice and respite service, and youth counseling. They will take part in the current project as one of the partners and collaborate in providing better educational opportunities to children of low-income families. They will provide their networking resources and experience and knowledge regarding the needs and wants in their neighboring Korean immigrant community so that the GCJL project and its programs may reach out better and deeper into the community. In addition, Neighbor Plus will refer children whose parent is a participant of “Low Income Single Parent Support Program” of Neighbor Plus. The foundation is also willing to share and provide its facilities and spaces, including the lecture hall and small group meeting rooms.

iOttie, Inc

The iOttie Inc., a manufacturer of car accessories products, has a team of community outreach and service that supports local non-profit organization and promotes employees’ engagement in community service activities. The company has been a strong supporter of the Give Chances and will delegate a staff of the team to the Joyful Learning After-school program to be a lead-teacher and an assisting staff. As a partner of the project, the iOttie Inc. will provide matching fund to cover 100 % of the cost to hire a part-time staff for the Joyful Learning After-school program.
